  • The aim:

    Intermediate first aid focuses on helping the learner address the more serious situations and emergencies that may occur in the workplace.

Learning outcomes:

In this course, we cover those areas necessary for delivering first aid at an intermediate level to address more serious injuries or emergencies within the workplace. We cover the major topics for adult first aid, and child and infant first aid.

  • Who the course is for:

    This first aid course is suitable for employees who have been appointed as a first aid representative within their organisation and who require knowledge beyond the basic first aid course.

    • Introduction and Primary Assessment
    • Health and safety regulations
    • How to perform CPR on a range of individuals e.g. children and adults
    • Defibrillators – things to consider
    • Unconscious casualties
    • Treating:
      Part 1 – the recovery position, choking, wounds, bleeding and shock.
      Part 2 – burns, eye injuries, head injuries, fractures, dislocations, spinal injuries and amputation
    • Secondary Conditions and Reactions:
      Part 1 – asthma, allergic reactions, nose bleeds, diabetes, epilepsy, heart attacks and strokes.
      Part 2 – hyperventilation, fainting, sprains and strains, poisoning, drowning and record keeping
    • Summary and end of course assessment with certificate of completion
